Vodafone testeaza tehnologie femtocell (statiile de baza 3G de interior) pentru a imbunatati aria de acoperire pentru retelele 3G in interiorul cladirilor, informeaza presa de specialitate. In telecomunicatii, femtocell reprezinta o statie de telefonie mobila de dimensiuni reduse, ce contine tehnologii similare cu o statie standard, reduse, insa, la marimea unei carti. Aria de acoperire furnizata este limitata. Tehnologia fetmocell se afla, in mai multe privinte, in competitie cu cea UMA (Acces Mobil nelicentiat). Ambele permit utilizatorului final sa isi “creeze” acoperire in propriile locuinte sau birouri prin simpla cumparare si instalare a unui echipament in locul dorit. In vreme ce UMA utilizeaza Wi-Fi sau Bluetooth drept legatura wireless locala, tehnologia fetmocell functioneaza pe baza tehnologiei celulare wireless standard (GSM sau CDMA), adica in cazul oricarui tip de telefon mobil. Asus M930, Prepared to Defy Nokia E90

Asus M930, announced more than a month ago to be a tough competitor for the Nokia E90 Communicator , will be commercially available at the beginning of 2008, for a price that is unknown yet. Several real photos of the handset recently appeared on the Internet, showing us that the handset is really capable of standing beside Nokia E90. Presented as Asus M930W, although on the front case there's only the "M930" name, the device is a tri-band GSM phone (900 / 1800 / 1900 Mhz) that supports EDGE, GPRS, 3G and HSDPA, thus allowing fast data transfers (up to 3.6 Mb per second). As all the latest Asus smartphones, the M930 has a powerful processor, a Marvel PXA27x 520 Mhz one, considerably more powerful than Nokia E90's processor, which only has 330 Mhz.
